Location
San Roque is a pretty Spanish town located close to Gibraltar on the SW point of
Spain. It is easily accessed by car from Malaga or Gibraltar airports and a 2 hours drive from Seville, Jerez or Cadiz. The house is located on the 13th Fairway of the renowned San Roque Golf Resort which is 2 miles from the town and close to beach resorts at Sotogrande, Alcaidesa and Torreguardio. This is a beautiful, rugged, mature and less developed mountainous region of the coast which offers the benefit of a comfortable safe location away from the coastline
yet within a short drive of the jet set night spots and a wide range of excellent restaurants, golf courses, cultural attractions and typical Andalucian "white town" locations.

Flights to Malaga are prevalent all year round and often very inexpensive. Several scheduled international carriers, including
BA, Iberia and Monarch, fly in daily and a number of other airlines
arrive several times a day in high season.
Car hire
must be arranged in advance to ensure choice of vehicle and that readily available competitive rates are secured. Using the E341, a new toll motorway which starts close to the airport, you can travel to the house in one hour. There are 3
tolls on the journey and you will need Euros handy (8-15) for the
charges. There is a non toll road through the coastal towns but it is very busy with locals and not to be recommended. The San Roque Golf Club has its own exit off the E341 so the trip is a gentle introduction to driving in Spain once you leave the airport and find your way onto the toll road. For local car hire you generally get what you pay for
so be
cautious
to obtain adequate insurance and WRITTEN confirmation of the booking from the selected firm.
Several scheduled and cheaper carriers fly in to Gibraltar. Car hire is readily available at the airport which is by nature small, compact and fast to move through. The Spanish border is literally 200 metres from the airport and it can be beneficial to walk across the border and use a car hire company located in Spain. This avoids the potential for delay in crossing the border by car on your arrival and return. Border controls are efficient but at times congested and for peak-time flight arrivals it can take 1-2 hours to cross. It is a simple 15 minute drive on quiet roads to the house from the border.
